Queen's Park Day - November 2010

The Advocis National Office invites members to participate in Queen's Park Day held in November of each year.  Advocis national is gearing up for this November's event and will be sending information to us as soon as the dates have been confirmed.

Advocis Day at Queen’s Park 

On November 4, 2010, Advocis held its Sixth Annual Legislature Day at Queen’s Park in Toronto.  

Advocis members from across the province met with over 20 Members of Provincial Parliament, including Norm Miller, MPP Party Sound – Muskoka, Finance Criticfor the Official Opposition, and the Hon. Madeleine Meilleur, Minister of Community and Social Services and Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs. 

A number of Advocis members and MPPs, along with their staff, attended our reception where the Hon. John Wilkinson, Minister of the Environment, Frank Klees,MPP Newmarket – Aurora (PC), and Michael Prue, MPP Beaches – East York (NDP) each gave short speeches that were well received. 

Issues discussed during meetings with the MPPs included mandatory provincial licensing for the sale of incidental insurance, professionalism and the financialadvisor, and pension reform. 

Advocis was introduced at the Legislature during Question Period by the Hon. John Wilkinson, Minister of the Environment.
